The invention relates to a method for determining a needed cleaning of a commercial cooking device with at least one cooking surface. The method has the steps of capturing at least one image of at least one part of the cooking surface and/or at least one part of a cooking product, comparing the captured image of the part of the cooking surface with a stored reference image of a dirty cooking surface which needs to be cleaned and/or comparing the captured image of the part of the cooking product with a stored reference image of the cooking product in a cooked state which indicates a need to clean the cooking surface, and deciding whether a cleaning is needed on the basis of the result of the comparison. The invention further relates to a quality management/monitoring system and a commercial cooking device comprising a quality management/monitoring system.
