The present invention relates to a super wide angle camera system for recognizing a hand gesture, comprising: a super wide angle camera module; a main control unit which controls and operates an imaging operation of the super wide angle camera module and an overall signal processing operation of the camera system; an image processing unit which performs wide angle correction on a circular omnidirectional image of the super wide angle camera module to convert the image into a panorama plane image under the control of the main control unit; and a hand gesture recognition unit which recognizes a hand of a human body in the panorama plane image converted by the image processing unit, and generates and provides a control event according to change of the recognized hand shape. Accordingly, it is possible to configure an interface between a computing device and a user without using a device such as a mouse and a remote controller by recognizing the shape of a hand, thereby improving convenience and variously applying the system.
