The present invention relates to a methylation marker gene specific to the exposure of hexanal which is one of volatile organic compounds exposed in an environment, and to a detecting method using the same. In particular, the present invention relates to a hexanal exposure-specific marker gene in which a promoter region of a specific gene is specifically methylated by hexanal, and to a method for confirming the exposure with respect to hexanal by using the same. A methylation marker of the present invention can be useful in monitoring and determining the contamination of hexanal more accurately and rapidly than a conventional method by using, as a biomarker, a methylated promoter region of a reaction gene sorted through a DNA methylation microarray chip. Also, the methylation marker of the present invention can be used as a tool for clarifying a toxicity action mechanism caused by hexanal.
