Embodiments of the present invention include a boot loader update firmware for updating a boot loader module of a device, a method and system for providing a boot loader update firmware, and a method for using a boot loader update firmware. The boot loader update firmware may include logic to install a firmware into a non-volatile memory. The firmware may include the binary image of the updated boot loader module. When the device is rebooted, the firmware can be activated to copy the binary image to the nonvolatile memory. When the device is rebooted again, an updated boot loader module is activated. So, costs can be reduced.
