There is provided an apparatus for generating a three-dimensional model of a garment, which includes: an image receiving unit configured to receive a two-dimensional image of a garment; a model generation unit configured to generate a three-dimensional model corresponding to the image using a pre-stored base model; and a matching unit configured to change the image to match the image with a surface of the three-dimensional model such that the image is combined with the three-dimensional model. Since the apparatus easily creates the three-dimensional model of a garment within a short time (for example, several minutes) by using a general two-dimensional image of the garment, when applied to a place where sells clothes, such as an online shopping mall, the apparatus may facilitate users virtual fitting and promote clothes purchasing.
