The present invention relates to a monitoring system using an internet-of-things (IoT)-based zipper and a monitoring method using the same. According to the present invention, the monitoring system using an IoT-based zipper comprises an IoT-based zipper having a zipper device unit (10) and a slider (20), a communication network (30), and a smartphone (40). The IoT-based zipper is attached to one among an IoT-based zipper bag, clothing, and cases to be opened and closed, uses the IoT to be started by vibration from the zipper device unit (10) while the slider (20) corresponding to a handle is held to be opened and closed to notify a separate device such as the smartphone (40) of pressure information and direction information sensed by the slider (20) to provide opening/closing notification and theft prevention notification information.
