The present invention relates to an anaerobic wastewater treatment system. More specifically, the present invention relates to an anaerobic wastewater treatment system combined with a pressure-retarded osmosis and bio-electrochemical system. After supplying biogas produced in the anaerobic digestion process to an elecromethanogenesis cell, high quality biogas can be produced by using electricity generated from the pressure-retarded osmosis in the reduction of carbon dioxide in the biogas. The anaerobic wastewater treatment system includes a pressure-retarded osmosis system, an anaerobic digestion tank, and a bio-electrochemical system.
