The present invention relates to a method for controlling access authority of a switch in a software defined network of a distributed controller environment. The method according to the present invention includes the steps of: enabling the switch to receive an access authority request message for the switch from at least one or more controller instances connected to the switch through a network; enabling the switch to give unique access authority to one among the controller instances; and canceling the access authority if a message requesting access authority extension is not received from the controller instance to which the access authority is given, for a preset time.
