The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases or immune diseases comprising an extract of hydroponic ginseng or a compound isolated therefrom as an active ingredient. The extract of hydroponic ginseng or a ginsenoside Re compound isolated therefrom according to the present invention has an excellent activity of suppressing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokine, IL-1β, caused by stimulating factors inducing inflammatory reactions in macrophages and dendritic cells; and suppresses the activity of NLRP3 inflammasome known to be involved in pathogenesis of various inflammatory diseases, and thus can be beneficially used in the development of therapeutic agents for inflammatory diseases and immune diseases that may be induced by excessive inflammatory reactions. Further, since the extract of hydroponic ginseng and a ginsenoside Re compound isolated therefrom are originated from an edible natural substance, it causes no cytotoxicity in cells and is safe in the human body, and thus can be safely used as a material for drugs as well as functional health foods.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
