Disclosed is a hybrid translation apparatus using rule-based machine translation. The hybrid translation apparatus using rule-based machine translation comprises: a native language text input unit for receiving native language text; a rule-based translation unit for translating the native language text based on rules to generate rule-based target language text and log; a statistics-based translation unit for translating the native language text based on statistics to generate statistics-based target language text and log; a rule-based translation characteristics extraction unit for extracting characteristics of rule-based translation based on the rule-based target language text and log generated by the rule-based translation unit; a statistics-based translation characteristics extraction unit for extracting characteristics of statistics-based translation based on the statistics-based target language text and log generated by the statistics-based translation unit; a hybrid classification unit for classifying a rule-based translation result and a statistics-based translation result in a characteristics-based classification method by using the characteristics extracted by each of the rule-based translation characteristics extraction unit and the statistics-based translation characteristics extraction unit; and a translation result output unit for outputting final target language text according to a translation result classified by the hybrid classification unit.
