The invention relates to a system and method for expressing and processing personal and aggregate user preferences. In the claimed system an authorized user, using an interface for expressing personal preferences, creates a personal rating list containing the title of the list and the user's preferred items, to which the user attributes a personal importance; the system determines a rating weight for the preferred items, the size of which corresponds to the personal importance attributed to each preferred item by the user; for at least two personal rating lists with corresponding titles the system determines aggregate user preferences by generating an aggregate rating list under the corresponding title and containing the preferred items named in the personal rating lists, which are arranged in the aggregate rating list according to their aggregate rating weight, determined by summing the rating weights of identical preferred items; and once an aggregate rating list has been generated, it is published in the system. The technical result is that of making it easier for users to express and publish their personal preferences, and making it easier to identify personal and aggregate user preferences while taking into account the dynamics of change over time, and to identify users interested in a particular preferred item.
