Evaluating potency of a compound or an extract to protect the proteins against oxidative stress, comprises: incubating the compound or extract with an enzyme susceptible to oxidative stress, whose activity is measured by colorimetry or fluorimetry and an enzyme substrate, in the presence of oxidative stress, and measuring the enzymatic activity by colorimetry or fluorimetry. An independent claim is included for a kit for the implementation of the method, comprising the enzyme susceptible to oxidative stress, an enzyme substrate and a source of oxidative stress for the enzyme.
