The device for operating an actuating cable (4) comprises: a ring (6) mounted to slide on a lever (7) and connected to one end of the actuating cable returned by a spring to a rest position in which the ring bears against part of the lever via a first elastic member (11) mounted fixedly with respect to the lever and against which a first stop (14) borne by the ring bears; and, a second elastic member (15) which is fixed to the lever being spaced apart from the first elastic member (11) in an axial direction of the lever and which is mounted to slide freely with respect to the ring.
