PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter motor for saddle type vehicle capable of improving the output torque for starting an engine and the characteristics of revolving speed, with simple configuration, while improving vehicle mountability.;SOLUTION: A starter motor for a saddle type vehicle includes a rotor, a brush, and a movable permanent magnet supported on the enclosure movably in the hoop direction of the rotor independently from the rotor, in an angular range including a delay angular position where the relative angular position to the brush is displaced in the delay angular direction, and a lead angular position displaced farther in the lead angle direction than the delay angular position, and generating a larger torque than the torque at the delay angular position in the rotor.
