PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data generation method for preparing a 3-dimensional bone model of a size range that can be visible from the surgical field of an actual operator in preparing the 3-dimensional model for preoperative simulation for an artificial joint surgical operation, and a method for manufacturing the 3-dimensional bone model using the data.SOLUTION: A data generation method comprises: a first step of preparing a 3-dimensional bone data lump including at least a part of a joint part of a human; and a second step of saving, in a storage medium, data included in a rectangular prism including a first plane which is parallel with the height direction of the human (including a plane having an inclination of ±15 degrees or less), and crosses the 3-dimensional bone data lump, and a second plane which faces the first plane and does not cross the 3-dimensional bone data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
