PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method and device of an electric motor for controlling a push-walking assist of an electric power assist bicycle in dependence on a detected inclination angle, and an electric power assist bicycle having the device.SOLUTION: A control method includes identification of activation of a push-walking assist. If the push-walking assist is activated, a current inclination angle of an electric power assist bicycle is detected around the transverse axis of the electric power assist bicycle. Then, in dependence on the maximum speed for the push-walking assist and the detected inclination angle, a target speed for the push-walking assist is determined. The target speed determined is less than or equal to the maximum speed which preferably represents the legally regulated limit speed for the push-walking assist. An electric motor is controlled in dependence on the determined target speed. By the control method, the speed of the push-walking assist is adapted to a current slope of a travel section. Thereby, push-walking of a heavy electric power assist bicycle is facilitated or becomes more comfortable on a slope part of the travel section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
