PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional agent which consists of an ingredient separated from a plant and has a Maillard reaction inhibition function or an antioxidative function.SOLUTION: Taking an ingredient distilled in dry-distilling a solid plant raw material in a state of a low moisture content at low temperatures and reduced pressure by using a dry distillation apparatus equipped with a pressure reduction mechanism as the low-temperature reduced-pressure dry distillation fraction (D) and the solid residue remaining in the dry distillation apparatus after the low-temperature reduced-pressure dry distillation operation as low-temperature reduced-pressure dry distillation residue (R), a functional agent having a Maillard reaction inhibition function or an antioxidative function contains the low-temperature reduced-pressure dry distillation residue (R) or a solvent extract (E) from the low-temperature reduced-pressure dry distillation residue (R) as an active ingredient.
