PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermochromic writing instrument ink composition excellent in handwriting fixability, even in ink using a thermochromic coloring agent at which handwriting is scratched by a friction body or the like, capable of forming handwriting capable of withstanding strong scratch friction in various writing faces, and a writing instrument incorporated therewith.SOLUTION: Provided is a thermochemical ink composition comprising: a coloring agent colored by frictional heat; water; and flaky silica. The coloring agent being a microcapsule pigment obtained by involving a microcapsule with a reversible thermochromic composition made of (a) an electron donative coloring organic compound, (b) an electron receptive compound and (c) microcapsule pigment obtained by involving a microcapsule with a reversible thermochromic composition made of a reaction medium controlling the coloring reaction of the (a) and (b). Also provided is a writing instrument incorporated with the thermochemical ink composition.SELECTED DRAWING: None
