PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thickening/stabilizing agent for an electrode coating liquid of an electricity storage device, excellent in dispersion stability of an electrode active material, causing no deterioration in viscosity due to stirring shear force during a dispersion process, and also excellent in binding properties and electrolyte resistance.SOLUTION: A thickening/stabilizing agent for an electrode coating liquid of an electricity storage device contains cellulose having a number average width of a short width of 2-1,000 nm. Preferably, the cellulose has a I-type crystal structure and an aspect ratio of 50 or more, while a hydroxyl group on a cellulose surface is chemically modified.
