PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for determining life-and-death of a cell at real time, over a prolonged period, without complicated work.SOLUTION: A cell life-and-death determination system comprises: a continuous image acquisition part for continuously acquiring a phase difference image of a cell which is an observation object; a template image acquisition part for acquiring a template image related to the cell; a parameter acquisition part for acquiring a parameter for combining by linear combination a feature amount evaluation value of a Hu moment; a cell area extraction part for extracting a cell area, from respective acquired images; a feature amount calculation part for calculating a plurality of feature amount of the Hu moment for each cell area; a same cell connection part for connecting the same cell about the cell area included in the continuous image; a feature amount evaluation value calculation part for calculating the feature amount evaluation value related to dispersion of the feature amount of the same cell in the continuous image for each feature amount; and a determination part for determining life-and-death of the cell, based on a value obtained by linear combination of the feature amount evaluation value with the parameter.
