The present invention relates to a solenoid valve, and the associated method of control for compensated performance, based on environmental conditions and optionally product life. The power consumption of the solenoid coil is proactively optimized based on predetermined database information for cross-reference of a given operating temperature and optionally cycles operating the valve. The net effect is to reduce power consumption under normal conditions and selectively apply greater force to the valve coil when required.
