The present invention relates to a testing device (300) comprising an audio input mechanism (304), at least one test file (330), and an emulated media gateway (310) having an emulated media server (312) providing functionality similar to a backend media server (142) with which a media device (350) is configured to be associated. The testing device is configured to, by means of the emulated media gateway, send a command to the media device (350) under test, to playback the test file and, by means of the audio input mechanism, determining that the test file is being played.
