A PROCESS OF EXTRACTION OF VIRGIN POMEGRANATE SEED OIL WITH RETENTION OF BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS

The present invention provides for a process of extraction of virgin pomegranate seed oil with optimum extraction of seed oil without compromising on degradation in its important components of fatty acid profile. The process includes separating the seeds from marc and soaking the same in water for sufficient time; recovering the clean seeds; drying the seeds so recovered for reducing moisture content; grinding the dried seeds in grinder to size smaller than 700 microns; pressing the ground seeds in cold press at a desired temperature range; and recovering virgin pomegranate seed oil. The process is environment friendly, safe, and cost effective and free from any traces of solvent for extraction of high quality virgin pomegranate seed oil. Figure 1
