SMARTPHONE BASED HEALTH MONITORING USING THE INBUILT CAMERA

A method for blood pressure and heart rate estimation by analyzing extracted PPG signal by recording finger video of a subject with a smart phone comprises of the steps of: - capturing the video of the intensity and variations of the blood volume flowing in the capillaries lying beneath the finger skin of a subject; - extracting PPG signal from the captured video by PC through known algorithm and then filtering the PPG signal; - removing high frequency noise from the obtained PPG signal using a bandpass filter with cut-off frequency [0.5, 5] Hz; - detection of peaks and extraction of a plurality of time-domain parameters from the filtered PPG signal; - calculating expected systolic or diastolic BP from the plurality of time-domain parameters; and - extracting the HR in beats per minute using polynomial kernel regression.
