METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR RECYCLING FLASH MEMORY OCCUPANCY IN SMART CARDS

Disclosed herein are inventive aspects relating to the recycled utility of flash memory stores on smart cards, in particular those engaged for hosting manufacturer-provided bootloaders, by providing an external secondary bootloader configured for hosting itself, operating system and personalization data onto the smart card itself after freeing flash memory resources engaged by either bootloaders. Also disclosed are mastering and production run protocols involved in implementation of this method.
