Layered Silicone Rubber (SR) nanocomposites for shielding and chaffing applications with enhanced conductivity, permittivity and permeability and its interactions with electromagnetic waves are described. In an example, a compound comprising silver or platinum may be reacted with an appropriate agent in a solvent to obtain a nano -suspension having an aromatic group. Further, carbon based nano particles may be bound to the nano-suspension to obtain a carbon based nano-suspension. The carbon based nano-suspension may be filtered and dried to form a carbon nanomaterial based wafer. Furthermore, two or more carbon nanomaterial based wafers may be embedded in a SR composite, where the SR composite is sandwiched between the carbon nanomaterial based wafers such that the SR composite permeates through the one or more carbon nanomaterial based wafers to form the layered SR carbon nanocomposite.
