The present invention describes mechanisms for repairing, in a network of transparent bridges provided with functionality for learning ARP-Paths, in cooperation with an SDN controller, all the paths in use that pass through a particular link when said link fails. The bridge with the failed link informs the controller by sending a PacketIn OpenFlow packet containing the destination address to be repaired. In a table, the controller looks up the border bridge to which each terminal is connected and sends a PacketOut OpenFlow packet to the border bridge connected to the destination terminal. This packet contains a multi-cast repair frame which the bridge unencapsulates and sends through all of the links thereof, flooding the network until the bridge that detected the link failure is reached. As the frame passes through the network, it establishes a spanning tree towards the bridge of the destination terminal.
