METHOD FOR OPERATING A BI-TURBO SYSTEM, AND ENGINE CONTROL UNIT

A method for operating a bi-turbo system is described. The two actuators of the turbochargers are actuated so as to realize a position of the actuators which is identical for both actuators. Then, both actuators are trimmed relative to one another, and the resulting change in the charge pressure controller output required for achieving the setpoint charge pressure is observed. After performing reverse trimming of the two actuators relative to one another, the resulting change in the charge pressure controller output is likewise observed. The performance of the charge pressure controller during the trimming operations is compared. Defective performance of a turbocharger can be identified from the corresponding evaluation. Also described is an engine control unit for carrying out said method.
