The method involves calculating theoretical air flow rates (QC1, QC2) of compressors (C1, C2) from a position value of variable geometry (5) of a turbine (T1), when a supercharging system passes into a bi-turbo mode, where a ratio between the rate of one compressor and total rate is the function of the position according to preset cartography. The determined rates are compared with minimal rates, before pumping the compressors. The passage of the system into the bi-turbo mode is interdicted by engine control, when one of the determined rates is less than the minimal rate. An independent claim is also included for an engine control and supercharging system assembly comprising compressors.
