The present invention describes an architecture for integrating photovoltaic cells and a method for operating same that allows the collection and analysis of sequenced individual signals from each cell or group of cells to identify the root cause of the decrease in total electric power, caused by possible contamination with particles of dust, solid or aqueous material, stationary or moving shadows and/or cracks. The configuration comprises electric current and voltage sensors which detect every decrease in electric power. The method makes it possible to track a decrease in electric power across an entire array of photovoltaic cells in order to offer the user a conclusion as regards preventive and corrective maintenance.
