A message vibration prompting method and a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal comprises a vibration motor; the method comprises: when an application program in the mobile terminal receives a push message, determining whether the application program is a preconfigured application program (101); if the application program is a preconfigured application program, determining a vibration prompting mode corresponding to the application program (102); and controlling, according to the determined vibration prompting mode, the vibration motor to perform vibration prompt (103). According to the method and the mobile terminal, application programs which receive push messages are identified according to different vibration prompting modes; therefore, a user can timely perceive and determine the relevant information of a message received by a mobile terminal; while user personalization is achieved, better tactile experience is provided to the user; and user experience of the mobile terminal is improved.
