An atmospheric water extraction device for an island. The device comprises: a concentrated solution atmospheric water extraction system (1), a solar collector (2), a dilute solution evaporation system (3), a heat pump system (4), a solution heating system (5), and a water purification system (6). Island humid air is introduced into the concentrated solution atmospheric water extraction system (1) for heat-mass exchange to obtain a dilute solution and relatively low-temperature dry air; the dry air is used as fresh indoor air; the dilute solution is delivered to the solar collector (2) for heating and then delivered to the dilute solution evaporation system (3); the dilute solution evaporation system (3) delivers the dilute solution to the solution heating system (5) for heating and then evaporates the dilute solution to form water vapors to be then delivered to the water purification system (6); the water purification system (6) cools the water vapors, and then performs purification, filtering, and storage; at the same time, the heat pump system (4) introduces the heated island humid air into the dilute solution evaporation system (3) to recover heat in the humid air and extract water in the humid air. Also provided is a method for extracting water using the atmospheric water extraction device for an island.
