Provided is a mineral oil type base oil conforming to VG22 to 100 in terms of viscosity grade as stipulated by ISO 3448, whereof the distillation curve exhibits a temperature gradient Δ|Dt| of 6.8°C/vol% or less, for the distillation temperature between two points at which the respective amounts distilled are 2.0 vol% and 5.0 vol%. The vacuum pump oil containing this mineral oil type base oil has excellent vacuum properties and conforms to VG22 to 100 in terms of the viscosity grade as stipulated by ISO 3448.
