The present invention relates to a common terminology-based medical term translation system for translating a query term indicated by an original language into a bilingual term indicated by a target language. The common terminology-based medical term translation system comprises: a reference term managing unit which forms and stores a concept including at least one indication term, and a reference term system consisting of a relationship between the concepts, wherein the indication term is indicated in an intermediate language; a bilingual relationship setting unit which refers to a document in which a term (hereinafter, referred to as original language term) of an original language or a term (hereinafter, referred to as target language term) of a target language correspond to the indication term of the concept so as to map the original language term or the target language with the corresponding concept; a bilingual term searching unit which selects a bilingual term indicated in a target language with respect to a query term indicated in an original language, extracts a concept (hereinafter, referred to as an intermediate concept) mapping with the query term, searches for a target language term mapping with the intermediate concept or a having a relationship with the intermediate concept, and selects the searched target language term as the bilingual term; and a query term processing unit for making the bilingual term searching unit select a bilingual term with respect to the query term, and providing the bilingual term. According to the system of the present invention, even when a target language term to be used as a bilingual term of a query term is not shown in a medical term translation dictionary, a bilingual term capable of most suitably replacing a query term can be found and used for translation.
