The present invention relates to a composition for preventing, alleviating or treating a metabolic syndrome comprising 2-monoacylgycerol lyase. The composition completely decomposes triglyceride into fatty acid and glycerol in a digestive tract to delay a fat absorption and reduce insorption of the triglyceride, and also decomposes monoacylglycerol into monoacylglycerol lipase in the digestive tract to delay the triglyceride recombination in digestive epithelial cells or to accelerate energy consumption of the process even if fat is absorbed. Therefore, the composition can be used as prevention or treatment for the hepatic steatosis, nonalcoholic fatty liver, hyperlipidimia, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and/or obesity.
