The present invention provides a channel-based content providing system for providing video on demand (VOD) contents which a user wants in an internet protocol television (IPTV) service by an easily accessible channel method without search using existing complex menu categories. In the channel-based content providing system, contents are executed for each channel type. One or more YouTube contents are executed separately from executing the existing YouTube content. The channel-based content providing system includes a key event recognition part; an app execution path confirmation part; a channel type identifying part; an application execution confirmation part; and a content reproducing part.
