The present invention relates to a ruminant feed composition for reducing methane gas production in the rumen of ruminant animals, and to a method for suppressing methane production in the rumen by using the same. The ruminant feed composition for reducing methane gas production in the rumen of ruminant animals, comprising lysozyme of the present invention as an effective component reduces methane gas production in the rumen; has few side effects on a human body and animals, and thus is safe; and fundamentally reduces the causes of methane formation in the rumen, thereby suppressing methane production. Accordingly, the feed composition comprising lysozyme according to the present invention, suppresses methane production in the rumen of the ruminant animals when fed to ruminant animals; and increases feed efficiency, and thus can create additional monetary profits.
