A lighting failure detection system sets a lighting detection region, receives a lighting status of the lighting detection region when a lighting failure detection operation is set, estimates the lighting status of the lighting detection region from an input image, and determines a failure of a lighting in the lighting detection region by comparing the estimated lighting status of the lighting detection region with the received lighting status when the lighting failure detection operation is set.
