The present invention relates to a magnesium oxide-based absorbent for collecting carbon dioxide and a method of preparing the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a magnesium oxide-based absorbent for collecting carbon dioxide, which includes a eutectic mixture as an enhancer and a magnesium oxide/aluminum oxide complex, thereby having excellent cycle ability. According to the present invention, a problem of an existing magnesium oxide-based absorbent for collecting carbon dioxide, which exhibits excellent carbon dioxide adsorption performance at high temperature but a poor cycle performance, and subsequently, cannot be commercialized or used in the process is overcome. Thus, it is possible to provide the solid absorbent having remarkably improved cycle characteristics and the CO_2 adsorption performance that is not significantly lower than that of the existing technology.
