The present invention provides a method and a device for determining a level of detail (LOD), which correct a coordinate of pixels if the pixels correspond to different surfaces of a cube map, calculate a derivative of the pixels by using the corrected coordinate and texture the cube map into the pixels based on the calculated derivative. Therefore, the number of operation units required to calculate the derivative can be reduced, thereby reducing an area and power consumption of the device.
