Disclosed are a battery management apparatus and a method for protecting an overvoltage of an LFP cell using the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the battery management apparatus comprises: a voltage measuring unit which is electrically connected to a plurality of LFP cells connected in series in an LFP battery, individually measures a voltage of each LFP cell, and outputs a voltage value for indicating the measured voltage; and a control unit which outputs a first signal for requesting initiation of a charging process for the LFP, outputs a second signal for requesting interruption of the charging process when at least one of voltage values of the LFP cells outputted from the voltage measuring unit reaches a threshold voltage value while the charging process is performed by the first signal, and then outputs a third signal for requesting initiation of a discharging process. Here, the charging process is configured to increase a voltage provided to the LFP battery from a predetermined initial charging target voltage value to a final charging target voltage value in a stair-step form. In addition, an LFP discharging process is configured to reduce a voltage provided to the LFP battery from a predetermined initial discharge target voltage value to a final discharge target voltage value in a stair-step form.
