Disclosed are a method for receiving a signal in an optical camera communication system and an apparatus therefor. The apparatus for receiving a signal in an optical camera communication system comprises: a camera module for receiving a frame to which downward sampling is applied, from a transmission apparatus; a region of interest extraction module for detecting a transmission region of a visible light signal transmitted in accordance with a specific PN code applied to specific data, in the received frame; a data extraction module for extracting the received data sampled at a ratio of the downward sampling through the visible light signal of the detected transmission region; a template waveform code generating module for generating one or more template waveform codes based on at least one of the specific PN code, the ratio of the downward sampling, and a start position of the downward sampling; a matching filter module for calculating one or more correlation values between the extracted received data and the generated template waveform codes; and a signal detection module for detecting the specific data transmitted through the visible light signal based on a correlation value having a maximum value among the calculated correlation values.
