The present invention relates to a Bacillus subtilis BS4 mutant strain (KCTC13286BP) having menaquinone-7 (MK-7) productivity and a mass production method of menaquinone-7 using the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for producing a massive amount of menaquinone-7 wherein a mutant is induced by treating a Bacillus subtilis sp. strain with UV rays or nitrosoguanidine (NTG), and a mutant strain having resistance against sodium azide is selected from the strain, and the selected Bacillus subtilis BS4 mutant strain (KCTC13286BP) is used to produce a massive amount of menaquinone-7 in an optimized culture medium and under an optimized culture condition. The novel Bacillus subtilis BS4 mutant strain of the present invention has excellent productivity of vitamin K2, menaquinone-7 in other words and comprises a 1,4-dihydroxy-2-naphthoate-octaprenyl transferase (menA) mutant and a gene for coding the same. In addition, the strain has productivity, which is not inhibited, of menaquinone-7 with respect to aromatic amino acid, can produce a massive amount of menaquinone-7 in an optimized culture medium composition and under a culture condition, and can significantly reduce the production unit price of menaquinone-7.
