The present invention relates to a composition for preventing, treating or alleviating obesity comprising an extract of Lycopus lucidus Turcz. as an effective component. The Lycopus lucidus Turcz. extract according to the present invention inhibits the increase in body weight and fasting blood glucose due to the high fat diet in a dietary obesity-induced mouse model, and is found to have an effect of increasing energy metabolism and treating impaired glucose tolerance. Therefore, the Lycopus lucidus Turcz. extract can be useful not only for obesity but also for prevention, treatment, or alleviation of obesity-related complications which may be caused by weight gain.
