The present invention relates to a composition for preventing, treating, or improving obesity comprising (a) a Lespedeza bicolor Turcz. extract; or (b) a mixture of Lespedeza bicolor Turcz. and Smilax glabre extracts as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, the composition: inhibits differentiation of fat cells; has anti-obesity activities against intracellular obesity related lipids, lipoproteins, and hormones; and significantly reduces fat free mass index and waist measurement.
