Plaque assemblies emitting visible iridescent patterns

A badge assembly comprising a translucent polymer tag having a rim and an inner surface with a diffraction grating having a thickness of 250 nm to 1000 nm and a phase of 50 nm to 5 μm; LED sources directed towards the edge; and cladding designed to obscure the sources. Furthermore, the grid diffracts light from the LED sources through the badge as a visible iridescent pattern.
