A method for determining a presumably occurring steering angle amplitude of a steering wheel of a vehicle during a lane change is provided. The method comprises determining (201, 802) a steering angle measurement value of a steering wheel of a vehicle at a measurement time during a lane change; determining (202, 803) a steering angular velocity measurement value of the steering wheel at the measurement time and determining (203, 805) a steering angle amplitude likely to occur at a time later than the measurement time during lane change depending on at least the steering angle measurement and the steering angular velocity measurement value at the measurement time.
