Labeling machine (1, 1 ') designed for applying labels (2) to articles (3) intended for filling with pourable products, in particular bottles, containers or the like; said labeling machine (1, 1 ') comprising: - a conveyor (4, 18) adapted to convey a plurality of said articles (3) along a predetermined path (P, Q) from an input station (I) to an output station (O); - A vacuum drum (10) for transmitting said labels (2) which is rotatable about an axis (C) and adapted to receive said labels (2) at a receiving station (B) on an outer side surface (12) and to convey them to a mounting station (A) at which said labels (2) are fed to said conveyor (4, 18) to be mounted on the respective articles (3); and - Removal means (13) with respect to said vacuum drum (10) peripherally and with respect to the direction of rotation of the vacuum drum (10) after said attachment station (A) are arranged, which define a reject station (S), and which are suitable on the said outer side surface (12) after the said attachment station (A) remaining labels (2) to be taken; characterized in that it further comprises: - Detection means (14) adapted to generate a signal (W) of the presence of a label when after said attachment station (A) a label (2) on the outer side surface (12) of said vacuum drum (10) present is; and - activating means (16) of said extraction means (13) to respond to said signal (W).
