The control device has a control unit 26, a transmitter / receiver 32, and a locking device 38; the communications link 32 receives commands for adjusting a seats comfort equipment 12 (such as seat and leg rest adjustment 14,15,16, video 18 and lighting 20) and transmits them to the control unit, the locking device is able to prevent the transmission of commands when activated. The control device may have an electrical USB port 37 for plugging in the communications link 32, but may also use a wireless protocol e.g. Bluetooth RTM. The locking device may take the form of locking instructions held in a storage unit 30 of the control unit which are executed by a calculation unit 29; or it may be located on a control box 28, such as a remote control, tablet, mobile phone etc. Alternatively, the locking device may be switch (fig.2,44) preferably, on the shell of a seat module; or the locking member (fig.3,50) may be on a central unit (fig.3,48) connected to multiple local control devices 52 by a control line 10.
