A vision based inspection system comprises a computerized device configured to digitize a scene of a construction site within which a user of the device is present; a feature extractor, extracts features in the digitized scene and compares these to features within a set of 3D construction site models stored on a communicatively associated/networked database(s); A self-localisation unit locating the computerized device user and the orientation of the computerized device at that location based on the comparison and matching of extracted features with the 3D construction site models. Preferably, an augmented visual representation of the differences between the digitised scene (objects/structures) and three dimension model is provided to the user.
